If you’ve ever thought about changing the look of your point-and-shoot camera Pentax just made the process more convenient. The Optio RS1500 comes with 10 different “skins” that can be installed on the front panel of the camera. Additional designs can be downloaded from Pentax or you can use your own image to print something unique.

Five blank skins even come with the unit. The lens ring easily snaps on and off, allowing a clear plate to be lifted off the front of the camera. This plate holds down the cosmetic design of your choice. The RS1500 comes with a black or orange lens ring just in case you need an extra touch of color.

Pentax expects that once you’re finished customizing the look of your Optio, you might actually want to take some pictures. When it comes to the camera itself, the device packs a 3-inch LCD display, 14 megapixel resolution and 720p HD video shooting. The second-generation RS1500 is also equipped with 4X optical zoom (27.5mm to 110mm), SDHC media compatibility and 21 MB of internal memory.

Automatic shooting modes are the name of the game, with auto face detection and digital image stabilization standard. Frame effects make it possible to add zany borders to snapshots and panorama mode records photo panoramas on-the-fly. Custom skins can be created on a personal computer with Pentax’s included Personal Skin Designer tool.

The Optio RS1500 will launch in white and silver-bodied models starting April 2011 for $149.95.
