Not everyone needs a rugged camera, but in case youâre the type of user with butter fingers, or travels to places where a rugged camera would be a better fit, Pentax has announced the WG-3 rugged camera will be added to its portfolio. The original WG-3 was announced earlier this year although to be honest the white does have a more striking look to it. As expected, it will be available in the regular version, and the GPS version which will come with GPS features and will cost $50 more than the non-GPS model.
As far as its specs are concerned, for those who might have forgotten, the WG-3 will come with a f/2.0 aperture wide-angle lens with 4x optical zoom, a back-illuminated 16MP CMOS sensor, and Pentaxâs sensor-shift Shake Reduction which should help with high-quality and low-noise photos. However given its design, it is obvious that its selling point is its ruggedness with the ability to survive dunks in the pool, drops, and also the ability to withstand 220 foot pounds of force. To top it off, it also appears to sport a pretty unique design. You can expect to pick up the white Pentax WG-3 sometime in July for $299.95.
